NAPR Services Cooperative Mailings
HOT NEWS - 2003 MAILER PROGRAMS RATED A RESOUNDING SUCCESS!
Our 2003 Subscription Co-op Mailer Program has been rated “a great success” by participants.
“Our company has had great success with the NAPR Annual Subscription Mailer. We have been very pleased with the volume and quality of responses. The NAPR response forms provide ample information on candidates’ search parameters and background. This makes our job much easier. I would highly recommend participation in the annual mailer.”
"I think the NAPR mailings are the BEST KEPT SECRET in recruiting and I hope my competitors don't find out about them!!"
“We have participated in the NAPR Services Subscription service since its inception and continuously are amazed by its convenience and cost-effectiveness. We constantly receive numerous, solid candidate responses via mail, fax and e-mail. We invariably find strong candidates appropriate for our clients or doctors in key specialties, which we can then market. I can't imagine anything easier in terms of sourcing!”
“Even though we are regionally-focused, we appreciate that NAPR has a mailing program that reaches physicians and specialties across such a wide spectrum, and we participate often in a variety of mailers.”
“The NAPR mailer program is a one-of-a- kind vehicle, in which member firms have the opportunity to significantly defray the cost of yearly mailings, while receiving the most informative, intensive candidate profile available. We have consistently found it to be a valuable sourcing tool. “

Web Committee -A Few Remarks
We are pleased to report the findings of a survey of Web Based Internet Sites that provide a place where physician recruiters, both in house and for profit, use to post their openings and search for physician candidates. The survey is conducted by Staff MD, the owners of the PhyscianWork site. 24 such sites were considered, and this survey is conducted on a yearly basis.
On the all important measure of “Consistently Effective Physician Recruiting Tool”, The NAPR site came in second, a few points below the PhysicianWork site, for the second year in a row. On the second most important rating of “Produces Most Physician Candidates” the NAPR site came in third, down from a second place finish last year. This may well have been due to the fact that the site changed web masters in the middle of the year, and we certainly hope to regain our first or second place next year. On the third factor, “Ease of Use”, we scored fifth, which is something that we need to pay attention to; however, the survey showed that a percentage of those doing the rating increased our rating from 2003. Still coming in fifth out of 24 sites is good, but we will endeavor to do better on the ease of use category.
Finally, all respondents were asked to compare the use of web sites in comparison to print advertising in journals. More than 60% said that web sites were more effective in attracting candidates, 17% were not sure, 16% said that the effects were about even, and only 6% said that journals were better.
Overall, this survey would indicate that physician recruiters are putting more and more faith in the web site approach. Currently, the NAPR has 150 of its members as participants of the WORLD JOB BANK ( www.napr.org ) If your are not a member, please contact me directly for further information. Anyone interested in reviewing the entire 6 page survey should contact me via e-mail at sternd@danielstern.com, and I will be pleased to mail you the entire survey. Also, we would like to express our thanks to Mr. Jeff Sisk of PhysicianWork, one of our vendor members, for conducting this important survey on a yearly basis.
Dear Miss Deed:
I spoke with a doctor who was interested in one of my practice
opportunities, so I asked her to send her CV to me. When I received her CV
I thought it was good enough to send to two other clients of mine. When the
doctor found out I sent her CV to the two other practices she got very upset
with me and told me she never gave me permission to send her CV to the other
two practices.
I thought that by sending me her CV she was giving me her consent to send it
anywhere. Am I wrong?
Yours truly,
Dear In:
As I see it you have two major problems. The first is that unless a
candidate expressly gives you permission, a CV cannot be sent to any client.
The second is that when you joined the NAPR there is a statement on the
Active Membership Application which states:
“Statement of Understanding/Agreement to Comply With NAPR Code of Ethics
I have read and hereby subscribe to the Code of Ethics and the Physician
Recruitment Standards of Practice and Procedures of the National Association
of Physician Recruiters (NAPR). I accept compliance with the Code and
Standards as a requirement for holding membership in NAPR and acknowledge by
my signature that the violation of any section thereof subjects my
organization to expulsion by the NAPR Board of Directors as provided by the
Bylaws.”
The fact that you didn’t know is unfortunately not a valid excuse for
inadvertently violating a section of the Code.
Receiving a candidate’s permission to release their CV to a client is one of
the fundamental protections afforded a candidate under the Code of Ethics.
It protects the candidates’ confidentiality, helps to avoid any unnecessary
activity with a client which the candidate has no interest and helps to
enhance the quality of a recruiter’s referrals by submitting only candidates
who are truly interested in the practice opportunity. I am sure you can
imagine the chaos which would occur if candidates were told about 1 job and
had their CV sent to 10.
Although the Code of Ethics did not make the New York Times bestseller list, you will be pleasantly surprised how clearly the rules for recruiting are spelled out. Please review the code and know you can count on me to clear up any questions you may have and remember proper referrals - result in better placements.
Cordially,
